"Meadowbank" was established as a grazing property in 1850 at Glenora on the upper reaches of the Derwent River, an hour’s drive from Hobart. In 1974 a vineyard was planted for private enjoyment but, with results exceeding all expectation, the vineyard was expanded and, with further investors, a second vineyard site was added in the 1999 at Cambridge, thus reducing the risk of unseasonable weather effects. At this site, just 15 minutes from Hobart at the gateway to the beautiful Coal River Valley, Meadowbank Estate established its award-winning wine tasting, restaurant, art gallery & function centre in July 2000.
